Metro information: The La Brea Tar Pits is a close walk from Metro D Line Wilshire & Fairfax station. Check out the LA Metro Trip Planner for the best route.
 

Parking recommendations: 

  • La Brea Tar Pits Museum Parking Lot: This lot is expected to fill quickly. $20 flat rate. 
  • 5757 Wilshire Blvd: $24 maximum. This lot closes at 12 am. 
  • 5670 Wilshire Blvd: $15/per hour, $24 maximum.

KCRW Summer Nights with La Brea Tar Pits

Step into the Ice Age — and onto the dance floor — at a free, all-ages Summer Nights party that brings together two incredible Los Angeles institutions – KCRW and La Brea Tar Pits. Enjoy the museum after hours, explore interactive exhibits and get up close to real fossils discovered right in the heart of L.A.. Plus, groove along to sets from KCRW DJs Novena Carmel and Francesca Harding, grab a bite from local food trucks, sip refreshments, and more. 

This is one of the last La Brea Tar Pits events before the museum closes its doors on July 7 for a two-year transformation project. Revisit one of L.A.’s most iconic locations and make some memories before the makeover.

What to expect:

  • DJs | KCRW’s Francesca Harding (6–8 pm) and Novena Carmel (8–10) take over the night with back-to-back sets, keeping the energy going all evening long.
  • Pop-Up Experiences | Take part in Museum led activities and visit the Tarpits Mobile Museum.
  • Food and Drinks | Cocktails and refreshments available from the museum bar, along with a lineup of local food trucks.
