Celebrate the captivating world of sloths at Sloths Summer Night at the Tar Pits.  Enjoy free admission to the museum as we honor these relaxed Ice Age giants and explore their fossils. Meet our living tree sloth friend from the Wildlife Learning Center and experience their charm up close. Chill out with a cold drink from the Tar Bar and savor a selection of delicious bites from a variety of local food trucks. Bring a blanket and enjoy a sunset picnic at the park.  Groove to  a specially curated DJ set of Slow Jams and Summer Anthems presented by Mike C. Music. Take in the glorious Los Angeles summer, connect with friends, and create unforgettable memories.

• FREE MUSEUM ADMISSION: 5–8 pm 

• SLOTH MEET AND GREET: Meet Sid the Sloth from our friends at the Wildlife Learning Center. Wildlife Learning Center is dedicated to providing sanctuary for non-releasable wildlife and promoting conservation and appreciation of wildlife by engaging the public in educational experiences.
• STAGE:  Specially curated DJ Set of Slow Jams and Summer Anthems presented by Mike C. Music
• TAR BAR: Cocktails, Beer, and Wine from EN Events (21 and over only)
• FOOD TRUCKS: Stop Bye Cafe, Tacos Mi Amor, Hamburger Planet, The Boba Truck, MOOM MAAM 
• MOBILE MUSEUM:  Take a tour of our La Brea Tar Pits Mobile Museum and interact with our mega fauna bone maps, immerse yourselves through Augmented Reality with our AR code posters, and touch a real ground sloth fossil. 
• SPECIAL APPEARANCES BY PERFORMING ARTS PUPPETS:
  • Cali Inside at the Fossil Lab: 6 pm and 7 pm 
• RESEARCH AND COLLECTION: Visit with our scientists from La Brea Tar Pits and the Mammalogy Department!
• MUSEUM EDUCATOR POP-UP PRESENTATIONS (Meet at the Fossil Lab):
  • Discoveries from the Tar Pits: 5:30 pm
    Join a Museum Educator to hear about exciting discoveries from the Tar Pits! This is a short presentation highlighting sloth stories followed by a Q&A opportunity. Ignite your curiosity and get the chance for hands-on exploration.
  • Excavator Tour: 6:15 pm
    Join an Excavator Tour and open a window into Ice Age Los Angeles! This 45–60 minute guided walking tour takes you from inside the museum, outside our Fossil Lab, and out through the park ending at our current excavation site, Project 23! It’s truly a journey through past and present Los Angeles and showcases the new things we’re learning every day.

• MERCI MILO POP-UP: Visit and shop from Merci Milo, a unique and beloved heirloom neighborhood toy shop.

An eclectic multi-genre DJ and award-nominated livestream host, music historian Mike C has produced reissues and compilations for artists ranging from Fishbone and Gil Scott-Heron to Shawn Colvin and Matthew Sweet. A veteran of many nightclub residencies in New York City, he currently resides and spins in Los Angeles.
