Join us for Late Night Fridays at the Tar Pits. All summer long through August 31, 2018, the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum will be open from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Fridays with Free General Admission. Plus, add on exciting special activities only offered during our Late Night Fridays.
Cave of Forgotten Dreams
Embark on an emotional journey as you get a rare look at an amazing hidden treasure. In this breathtaking 3D documentary, unparalleled filmmaker Werner Herzog and a small crew take us into France’s Chauvet Cave, where the walls are covered with the world’s oldest cave paintings, going back 30,000 years.
$10 Non-Members | $8 Members, only shown on Late Night Fridays at the Tar Pits

Here’s your chance to step inside our Fossil Lab. Our research staff will give you an up-close experience and answer your questions about the work they do. Plus, you can see how we prepare, conserve, and study fossils found in our daily excavations — from saber-toothed cats and giant ground sloths to tiny micro-fossils (did you know that mice have elbows???).
$10 per person. For ages 7 and up

If you are planning on going to the movie and a tour please choose the 5:30 pm Behind-the-Scenes tour time slot.
Walk around the park and visit our active excavation sites Project 23 and Pit 91. Our scientists and volunteers are digging up new fossil finds every day. And get an up-close look at what a pit dig looks like in our Observation Pit.

Inside the Museum
Watch our scientists clean and prepare fossils in our Fossil Lab and explore our exhibits showcasing fossils dug up right from the Tar Pits. Stand next to mammoths, saber-toothed cats, giant ground sloths, dire wolves, and more.
