Girls in STEM Teen Club
La Brea Tar Pits invites curious young scholars to join us for our Girls in STEM Teen Program debut! As part of the founding cohort, ten 7th/8th graders will work behind-the-scenes with the Museum staff to learn what stories the Tar Pits tell and how these stories are important in their own lives. The program season will run from February 2025 to May 2025 with a meeting every month. Participants must be able to commit to attending all meetings. Apply now and come do science along with our scientist

Science is for Girls!
Women continue to be underrepresented in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (or STEM) workforces. Research shows that, for a variety of reasons, many girls begin to lose interest (and confidence in their abilities) in STEM disciplines around middle school. Girls in STEM Days at the Natural History Museum aim to address this, by giving girls the opportunity to build their STEM identity as they:
- Interact with and learn from diverse STEM role models.
- Engage with STEM in collaborative, social, and community-oriented ways.
- Investigate questions and solve problems using STEM practices.
