Girls in STEM Club

La Brea Tar Pits invites curious young scholars to join us for our Girls in STEM Teen Program debut! As part of the fall cohort, a select group of 7th/8th graders will work behind-the-scenes with the Museum staff to learn what stories the Tar Pits tell and how these stories are important in their own lives. The program season will run from September 2025 to November 2025 with a meeting every other Saturday. Participants must be able to commit to attending all meetings. 

Girls in STEM Teen Club information:

  • Participants will be asked to participate in all 5 days from 9am-1pm:
    • September 20
    • October 4
    • October 18
    • November 1
    • November 15
  • Participants must be in 7th or 8th Grade currently
  • Application submission is required to be considered
  • Program will run approximately 9am–1pm on the listed days
    • Participants are expected to attend the entirety of each day
  • Participants will be provided materials required to participate

Application Process

Participants must submit an application to be considered for this program and be able to attend all five event days. Applications for the fall 2025 season will be available on August 1, 2025. Check back for more details!
